All About Marlborough Sounds

The Marlborough Sounds region is famous for its wines and wineries, walking tracks, bird life and amazing network of waterways. There is information provided below on local things to do and see.

The Marlborough region has over 50 wineries and is New Zealand’s largest grape growing and wine making region. Most of the wineries welcome visitors for lunch and tasting sessions. It is also home for one of New Zealand’s iconic hikes – The Queen Charlotte Track.

Picton is small coastal village surrounded by hills and sea. It features award winning restaurants and activities and is the closest town to Tally-ho Bay only 10 - 15 minutes drive. The scenery in the sounds is amazing. Bush clad mountains rise straight out of the sea creating lots of bays and beaches for all kinds of bird life, dolphins, seals, terns and penguins. Getting out on the water is a must. There is a huge amount to do and see including wineries, arts and crafts, sea kayaking, walks, horse trekking and fishing (both for trout and in the sea).
